Case Advocacy Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary:  The Case Advocacy Supervisor (CAS) provides supervision and support to CASA volunteers in the delivery of high-quality advocacy to children under the jurisdiction of the court due to allegations of abuse and/or neglect. The CAS will be responsible for guiding each CASA volunteer through case assignment and proactive permanency planning while ensuring required data and case information is reported on a timely basis, including the review and submission of the CASA volunteer reports to the court. The Case Advocacy Supervisor is primarily responsible for supervising a caseload of 30 CASA volunteers and working collaboratively with the program team in the completion of recruitment, screening, training (pre-service and continuing education), and retention of CASA volunteers.

Full-time position (Salaried, exempt)

Salary starting range: $51,000 - $55,000

Reports to: Chief Program Officer

  • Has the ability to communicate with, support, and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles.

  • Has the skills to effectively use email, internet, and Microsoft Office 365.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.      Assist with the screening of prospective CASA volunteers.

2.      Participate with program team members in the delivery pre-service training and the continuing education of CASA volunteers.

3.      Empower volunteers with knowledge and support necessary to effectively participate in the legal process and ensure best interest child advocacy. 

4.      Supervise caseload of 30 assigned CASA volunteers, which includes the following:

  • Co-creation of initial advocacy plan and ongoing advocacy strategies.

  • Provide timely, relevant coaching to support CASA volunteers and guide them through their case.

  • Have a minimum of once a month contact with each volunteer. Provide regular encouragement and motivation to volunteers.

  • Review and submit volunteer court reports. 

  • Maintain volunteer and child case files; ensure monthly hours/activities are submitted.

5.      Build and maintain community relationships and partnerships to aid in community awareness and volunteer recruitment, particularly to diversify the CASA volunteer corps.

6.      Participate in the evaluation of volunteers, program and position.

7.      Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology or related field. Experience in a nonprofit setting working with volunteers is desirable.

  • Three to five years of experience in the field of social services; experience in the field of child welfare and/or volunteer management preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • A high level of attention to detail

  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups

  • Must be able to pass criminal background check.

  • Must have capacity to travel in and around St. Louis for work.


Work Environment:

The job takes place in a hybrid office setting. The employee will work in office two–three days per week. Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings to assist with events.
